About 9-Ball Scores
9-Ball Scores is a free scorekeeper for league-style 9-ball pool, built to run on a phone at the table. It keeps score in the handicapped points format many amateur leagues use: balls 1–8 are worth one point, the 9 is worth two, and each player races to the point total for their skill level. It also tracks defensive shots, innings, dead balls, 9 on the snap and break-and-runs, then works out the 20-point match split when the match ends.
No account or download is needed. Your matches are saved on your phone, and you can optionally sign in with Google or use a shared sync code to keep history on more than one device.
Start a match
- On the Score tab, pick each player from your saved players or type a name. Tick Guest for a one-off opponent you don't want in your history.
- Set each player's skill level. The points each player needs to win appear underneath.
- Choose who won the lag. That player breaks first and shoots first.
- Tap Start Match.
Keep score
- Tap a ball when the shooter pockets it. The shooter's score and progress bar update right away.
- Miss ends the turn. Defense marks a safety and ends the turn. Foul / Scratch ends the turn and gives ball in hand.
- Dead Ball, then tap the ball(s), for balls that score for no one, such as balls made on a foul.
- When the 9 drops, the app asks whether it was 9 on the snap, a break-and-run or an early 9, and starts the next rack with the right breaker.
- Undo takes back the last action if you tap the wrong thing.
When a player reaches their points total, the app announces the winner and shows the match-point split. Choose Rematch to play again with the same players, or New Players to set up a new match.
Players and history
- The Players tab saves regular players and their skill levels so setup takes seconds. Renaming a player updates their past matches too.
- The History tab lists every finished match, with career stats per player: wins, points, defenses, snaps and break-and-runs. You can export your history as a file.
- Sign in with Google to keep your own history across devices, or create a sync code to share one scorebook between phones without logging in.
Rules reference
The Rules tab summarizes the format the scorer follows: scoring, fouls, dead balls, innings, defensive shots, the points-to-win chart and the 20-point match chart. Your league's own rules and rulings always take priority.
